Members of the Vineland Produce Cooperative and the Landisville Cooperative Association okayed a merger agreement in balloting finished up on Dec. 8.
Estimates are that Landisville does some $7 million in business annually, while Vineland has some $45 million to $50 million annually. The combination of the two cooperatives is expected to create a stronger organization with benefits for its producer-members.
At its annual meeting, Dec. 18, according to the New Jersey Farm Bureau, current president Charles Bylone will step down after a tenure of some 48 years.
Bylone said the Vineland Cooperative, a Cumberland County fixture since 1930, has some 250 farmer members.
Landisville, based in Atlantic County, has 121 members.
