5.01.2008 - FAITH OF OUR FARMERS
Get to know Him better
Psalm 142:3
“As I sink in despair, my spirit ebbing away, you know how I’m feeling.”
The Message by
Eugene H. Peterson
You know, our God is a God of remarkable surprises.
My thoughts go back to the years when the first movies came out.
The villain ties a victim to the railway track and everything looks hopeless as the villain stands there with a sneer on his face.
However, the story is not over yet.
As always, a man in a white hat, the hero of the hour, comes racing ahead of the train on his trusty white steed and just in the knick of time releases the victim.
At times, our lives today are just like that poor soul tied to the train tracks.
Just as it seems that we are facing a total disaster, that “God of remarkable surprises” steps in and that disastrous moment turns into an opportunity for great joy.
Did you ever stop to think how He does it?
Just when we feel at our lowest and feel no one cares, He pulls us close to Him and we feel His presence all around us.
How amazing it is!
There are times that we know our Father, but do not really know Him in our hearts.
Loneliness offers us “the surprising opportunity to know God.”
When we only have God to call on, those are the times we really get to know Him.
Don’t wait for that lowest moment though.
Get to know God today!
