Tyson Foods Inc. announced Dec. 5 that it may sell its poultry processing plant in Berlin, Md., while closing operations in Oklahoma and Florida. Nationwide, the biggest U.S. meat producer, will cut 1,500 jobs — about 1 percent of the company’s workforce of 120,000.
There has been an industrywide slowdown in exports and increased output from U.S. meat producers, leading to an oversupply of meat in the country, the company said.
