Awards given at Jersey Club 87th meeting

WOODSBORO, Md. — The Maryland Jersey Cattle Club held its 87th annual meeting at the Fire Hall in Woodsboro, Md., on March 1. A number of awards were announced and presented during the program and the 2008 Maryland Jersey Queen and Princess selections were announced.
Brittany Arnold of Jefferson, Md., is the new Maryland Jersey Queen and Hannah Hood of Union Bridge, Md., is the 2008 Jersey Princess. The young women will represent the club at various meetings, shows and sales throughout the year.
Record book awards were presented as follows: First place junior girl — Autumn Lippy of Union Bridge, Md.; first place junior boy — Wyatt Kahler of Keymar, Md.; first place intermediate girl — Macayla Wiles of Hagerstown, Md.; first place intermediate boy — Brandon Kahler of Keymar; first place senior girl — Tracy Forsythe of Hagerstown, Md. There were no senior boys entered.
Several scholarships were awarded including the Charlotte Stiles Scholarship, which went to Heather Molesworth of Middletown, Md., and the Maryland Jersey Scholarship was awarded to Michele Malone of Walkersville, Md.
Kathy Albaugh of Daysland Acres in Walkersville, Md., is the new president of the Maryland Jersey Cattle Club; Allen Stiles of Spring Valley Farm in Westminster, Md., is the new vice-president; and Marcia Molesworth of Middletown, Md., is the secretary-treasurer.
Mike Forsythe of Linden Hall Farm in Hagerstown, Md., will be serving a three-year term on the board of directors.

• Junior two year old, Peace & Plenty F Barbie, exhibited by Aubrey Schwartzbeck.
